"Moreover, I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states. I cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial 'outside agitator' idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider" (Rev.  Dr. Martin Luther King Junior, "Letter from Birmingham Jail" 1963).

Destiny- "Something to which a person or thing is destined: fortune; a predetermined course of evens often held to be an irresistible power or agency" (Merriam-Webster). Destiny means our future. What was meant to happen. Our destiny should look like peace and love, tolerance, kindness, and all things good. The evil that is so present in every day lives should be obsolete.

Martin Luther King refers to a "We" in his speech. This speech is referring to ALL the people in the United States.

We might unite to strengthen our destiny by becoming more tolerant and not let differences and prejudice define us as well as keep us from working together.

We are all connected as in what one person does affects thousands of other people, if not directly then inderectly. Anything, big or small, can make a difference in someone else's life.

King's message is that we should all work together, and that teamwork and working together can strengthen our destiny and our prosperity's destiny. This relates to today as we are more tolerant of one another and we can work together better than we used to, when people stereotyped others and didn't work together as one.
